Mothers' Committee

St George Girls High School Mothers' Committee

St George Girls High School has had a Mothers’ Committee since the school began over 100 years ago.

When do we meet?

We meet on the first Wednesday morning of each month from 10am – 12 noon, except during school holidays. The Principal attends every meeting, and often another staff member, such as a Head Teacher, gives a presentation about an aspect of the school curriculum or other relevant topic.

The meetings are an excellent way to learn about the school and a valuable opportunity to ask questions of the Principal and Staff. They are held in an informal atmosphere and are a terrific way to get to know your daughter’s school and other parents.

What does the Committee do?

As well as providing a forum for liaison between parents and the school, the Committee has a major fundraising function through the co-ordination of the Uniform Shop. All profits raised from the shop are returned to the school and are used to fund necessary projects or purchase equipment for the school. The Committee also contributes to school life by organising the annual Mother-Daughter dinner and providing representatives on staff selection and annual report review panels. The Mothers’ Committee is a wonderful way to participate in your daughter’s school life.

Uniform Shop

Our uniform shop co-ordinator is Mandy Nguyen. If you’d like to volunteer, she can be contacted at sgghsuniform@gmail.com

Further information regarding the school uniform can be found on the school website at Our School – Uniform, along with a full price list, ordering information, and notification of special opening days.

The Uniform Shop is open from 1:00pm-3:30pm on Wednesdays during school term and for several special trading days during the year, including Year 7 Orientation Day. The assistance of any parents who are able to able to volunteer on a regular or causal basis is gratefully appreciated.

Mother-Daughter Dinner

Every year the Mothers’ Committee organises a very successful Mother-Daughter dinner in May/June. This is a lovely opportunity for the school community to celebrate the precious relationship of mothers and daughters. Tickets sell out quickly to this highly enjoyable evening.
